Cadwalader console table, black finish

The Met x Eichholtz presents the Cadwalader Console, a sophisticated centerpiece that commands attention.

Crafted with an impressive black marble top and a base sculpted from deep black wood, this console embodies elegance and grandeur. Its fluid lines and refined silhouette pay homage to 18th-century craftsmanship, while the deep tones and fine materials add a touch of modern luxury. Designed to elevate any interior, Cadwalader has a dramatic yet timeless presence.

INSPIRATION

The Cadwalader Console is inspired by a remarkable 18th-century card table in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection, which belonged to General John Cadwalader (1742–1786), a prominent Philadelphia figure during the Revolutionary War. The original piece—likely crafted by a London-trained sculptor newly arrived in America—combines the fluid ornamentation of the French Rococo style with the naturalistic precision of English sculpture. This refined fusion of European art and American history is reinterpreted in a contemporary form through the The Met x Eichholtz collaboration.
