Description

Introducing the “Akhtihotep Rug” by Eichholtz, an impressive creation inspired by the bas-relief “Representing the Personified Estates in the Tomb of Akhtihotep.” This masterpiece in shades of sand and ivory is handwoven from a blend of 60% wool, 20% cotton, and 20% viscose, offering both a luxurious texture and timeless beauty. Bring the essence of Ancient Egypt into your space, just as the figures bearing offerings once ensured Akhtihotep’s funerary rituals. Embrace history and elegance with this refined rug.

INSPIRATION

The Akhtihotep Rug is inspired by the bas-reliefs representing the personified estates (c. 2575–2551 BCE) in the tomb of Akhtihotep, a royal official and priest. Now part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, these limestone bas-reliefs depict figures representing estates or agricultural farms, carrying baskets of offerings for the deceased on their heads. The Akhtihotep Rug, handwoven from a blend of wool and cotton, adopts the design of the original images.
