The Met x Eichholtz presents the Moon Jar table lamp by Eichholtz, a modern design inspired by an 18th-century Korean moon jar made during the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910).
Our interpretation reimagines The Met’s striking porcelain vessel, named for its moon-like shape, with a taupe and brushed brass finish, as well as a handmade linen-blend shade crafted in the Netherlands. This sophisticated table lamp fuses historical and contemporary styles, casting a warm, charming glow that elevates any space.INSPIRATION
The Moon Jar table lamp is inspired by an 18th-century Korean porcelain moon jar—named for its gently curved shape and milky-white color—in the collection of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Popular during the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910) in the 18th and 19th centuries, moon jars were typically made in two halves and then joined together by hand. The moon jar that inspired this lamp acquired a light peach hue in places during the firing process. These imperfections evoke the beauty of nature. The Moon Jar table lamp features a taupe finish, brushed brass details, and a handmade linen-blend shade crafted in the Netherlands.
