The Lioness Side Table takes its design cue from a French tripod table in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection in New York. The table, crafted from wood and gilded bronze and featuring a mosaic surface, dates from 1815–1825 and has ornate winged lion legs, as well as floral and faunal details. The top depicts a quartet of birds drinking from a golden bowl and features a decorative fretwork border. The Lioness Side Table adopts the Museum table’s silhouette, with bronze-finished tripod legs and the elegant simplicity of a clear glass top.
