Description
The Met x Eichholtz presents the Lion Object, inspired by the naturalistic forms of ancient Egypt, embodying elegance and strength.
With a dignified expression and stylized anatomy, this stoneware object brings a commanding historical presence to modern interiors. Faithful to the proportions and details of its ancient predecessor, the Lion Object reveals strength and serenity through realistic features. A tribute to protective symbolism, it anchors the room with an almost mythical gravity.INSPIRATION
This piece is an interpretation of an ancient Egyptian lion head, made of gypsum, in The Met collection, originally used as a model for the stone gargoyles on the walls of temples. Created during a period when depictions of lions were transitioning from stylized forms to more naturalistic representations, it functioned both as an architectural element and a spiritual guardian. Eichholtz reverently captures the form and energy of the original.
