INSPIRATION


The Delavigne candlesticks are based on a pair of candlesticks (1723–1725) in The Met collection, created by Parisian silversmith Jacques Delavigne (master in 1714, attested in 1722). With their baluster-shaped, slightly angled stems and dense ornamentation, the original pieces reflect the influence of court designer Jean Bérain (1640–1711).
